The Snowdonia Marathon is almost upon us

In a week we'll be lining up on the outskirts of Llanberis, North Wales, to start the Eryri Marathon / Snowdonia Marathon.  It's probably the most demanding road marathon in Britain due to the big, long ascents, especially the big'un at mile 22.  While the route is a standard 26.2 miles measured on a map, if you flatten out the route the distance you have to run is actually 29.3 miles.

Despite having a good training cycle (>500 miles run)  and being in the best shape of my life, this event scares me quite a bit.  I've no idea how I'll deal with the hills, but no doubt it will involve a huge amount of suffering.

Thankfully, I'm not doing this alone.  As always, Christine will be there as well.  She completed the Eryri last year.

Obviously this is a challenge we're tackling to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Alzheimer's Research UK.  Any amount of sponsorship will be gratefully accepted by our charities.  Just click on the virgin money giving logo.
